ELOA former member of the Electric Light Orchestra was killed Friday afternoon in southern England.

Mike Edwards, a cellist with ELO between 1972-1975, was driving in Devon when a giant bale of hay struck his van. The bale, which may have fallen from a nearby tractor, rolled down a hillside onto the road below.

After being hit by the 1300-pound object, Edwards may have swerved into another vehicle. The 62-year-old musician died at the scene.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mike chose to leave ELO—the group behind hits like “Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Mr. Blue Sky”—in order to become a Buddhist.

Faith Hill on Sunday Night Football-Eminem’s publishing company is owed money by Universal Music Group, according to the U.S. Court of Appeals. It was ruled that UMG needs to pay royalties for iTunes purchases and ringtone sales.

-Musical performers will help kick off the official start of football season. On September 9, Taylor Swift and the Dave Matthews Band will perform in New Orleans prior to the Minnesota Vikings/New Orleans Saints game. The pregame show will air on NBC and the NFL Network.

-Speaking of football, a familiar voice will sing us into the Sunday evening battles. Country star Faith Hill has been chosen to once again perform the “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” theme song. Faith has had that gig since 2007.

-The boys of New Jersey may soon take over Las Vegas. Bon Jovi is reportedly “excited” by a multimillion-dollar offer to take up residency at one of the area hotels.

The D-O-double G will become the first rap artist to be featured in Rock Band when 8 new tracks debut at the online store.

Famous hits from Snoop such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?” and “Sensual Seduction” will be among the available titles.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the country star explained the story about “Mine,” the first single off her upcoming album. “My tendency to run from love. Every really direct example of love that I’ve had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I’ve developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love. This song is sort of about finding the exception to that.”

While I’m personally still years away from imagining the 20-year-old as a married woman with children, I can now see her perfectly at home in a future film.

Speak Now, Swift’s third album, will drop on October 25.

Brad Paisley and Carrie UnderwoodMTV may have decided against using Russell Brand as a three-time host, but the Country Music Association has no problem with three-peats.

On November 10, country music lovers will see llinCarrie Underwood and Brad Paisley center stage at the CMAs once again. The two have been a hosting team at the annual event for the past two years.

“Carrie and Brad have done a tremendous job hosting, and we are very happy to have them back again this year,” Steve Moore, CMA’s Chief Executive Officer, explained about the decision. “They have developed a natural rhythm and have a great rapport with the audience - both in the house and with our fans watching at home. They each have a great sense of humor and timing, which are two essential ingredients for hosting a live awards broadcast.”

The 44th Annual CMA Awards will air live from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

For the second time in less than a week, a tragic suicide has overshadowed a musical event.

On Thursday night, a concertgoer fell onto the stage during a Swell Season concert in California. One day later, it was a band’s lead singer who jumped to his death.

Charles Haddon, the frontman for Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, was pronounced dead Friday night after a performance with his British group in Hasselt, Belgium. The 22-year-old, who had climbed a telecommunications mast, jumped and fell onto the backstage parking lot at the Pukkelpop festival.
